In the central part of France is located a small town of Le Puy-en-Velay, known all over the world not only for its cheeses, but also for unusual constructions, such as the Chapel of St Michael, situated on a cliff.

The city itself is located in the province of Auvergne, which is a known area with volcanic past. Therefore, the city is hidden among the remains of a volcano. But the most remarkable place in Le Puy-en-Valais is the Chapel of St Michael, which was built in 962 by St. James, who at that time was the bishop of the city. The chapel is located at 82 meters altitude, and looks like it grows out of the volcanic rock. To get to the chapel you have to overcome 268 steps. In 1998 this temple was included in UNESCO World Heritage List.
